You give up your life and friends for some internet role play crap... you become pissy, and don't even talk to me any more...

What ever it is you felt for me, and what ever the hell it is I felt for you, its DOA, go away!

As you may or may not know, May 18-May 24, is EMS week, and the way I'm figuring many of you don't, and for those of you that do, I'm guessing that most of you just don't care.

But I think its time to educate people on the importance of EMS, the Emergency Medical Services.

Well, I would like to start by being completely honest with you, I used to be totally and utterly ignorant of the true importance of the Emergency Medical services, that is up until I got certified as an EMT.

But just take a minute to think of this; What if you were in a car accident, or if your house was on fire and there was no such thing as the Emergency Medical Services? What would you do?

I'm just going to leave it at that... I could go on listing statistics, I could tell you how we've helped you, and what we've done, but I think I just want to leave you thinking about those questions.

EMS -- Busting ours to save yours!

How unnatural are natural disasters
So the whole politics thing didn't really work out too well because by the time I started posting them all but five or six of the primary's/caucuses were already over... So I'm going to take a different path.

I would like to start out by sending out my deepest condolences to Myanmar and China.

As most of you already know, Myanmar was hit with a terrible cyclone just over 2 weeks ago, killing 34,273 and counting. The unfortunate part of the Myanmar cyclone, the part that hits hard, is the United Nation's estimate thar up to 40% of those who were killed in the cyclone were children.

Another thing that most of you already know, China was hit with a 7.9 earthquake, just a day ago, killing 10,000 and nearly 10,000 remain missing.

I can't even begin to imagine such disasters hitting home. Even Hurricanes Katrina, not to trivialize this tragic event, only had 1,500 deaths, which fail in comparison to the estimated 45,000 already dead between these two horrifying disasters.

I know that if something like this does happen close to home, as a EMT, that I will have a lot of wonderful people responding and working there asses off to find every last trapped person. I know that there are tons of people out there much like myself who have continued their education, by getting disaster response training. A little price to pay to be able to save thousands of people, hundreds of people, tens of people, or maybe just one person, but who knows who that person could be, it could be you.

I pray to all of you to follow in my and many others footsteps by getting disaster responses training. There is a some time and effort put into the training but its worth it even if all you save is one life.

Presidential election, Health Care, Socalized Medicine
Politics are a huge deal now-a-days, and if you like me and have no clue who you are going to vote for... You want to stay within your party, but maybe the candidate(s) from the other party have something to offer, something that you would really want in your President. That is why I am here, I am here to present the views of the three major candidates, on three of the hottest issues; Health Care, The War on Iraq, and Federal Student Aide. This Blog will be about the health care issues, to be followed over the next few days with blogs on The War on Iraq and Federal Student Aide.

Health Care -
Hillary Clinton -
Q: Would you support a universal health care bill?

CLINTON: We need to take step-by-step progress toward providing insurance for every American. I’d         expand the Children’s Health Insurance Program. I’d allow people between 55 and 65 to buy into                     Medicare. I want to see mental health considered on parity. He’s opposed the “patients’ bill of rights” that         is supported in a bipartisan coalition, as well as by 300 medical and health groups. And he’s gone for the         GOP version of the prescription drug benefit, which wouldn’t cover 650,000 New Yorkers.

Hillary voted to pass an amendment that would make up to $300 billion available for a Medicare                     prescription drug benefit for 2002 through 2011. The money would come from the budget's contingency             fund. The amendment would also require a Medicare overhaul. While Bill Clinton was in office Hillary also         made a hard push towards socilzed medicine, that would later be turned down.

Barrack Obama -

“We now face an opportunity — and an obligation — to turn the page on the failed politics of yesterday's         health care debates… My plan begins by covering every American. If you already have health insurance,         the only thing that will change for you under this plan is the amount of money you will spend on premiums.         That will be less. If you are one of the 45 million Americans who don't have health insurance, you will have         it after this plan becomes law. No one will be turned away because of a preexisting condition or illness.

Barrack Obama believes that there are three core issues in Health Care; Millions of Americans are uninsured or under insured because of medical costs, Health care cost are skyrocketing, and too little is spent on prevention and public health. Obama plans to cover the uninsured Americans. He will make available a new NATIONAL health care plan to ALL Americans including the self-emplyed and small bussiness. Obama plans to gurentee that no American will be turned away from unsurance plan because of illness or pre-existing conditions. He plan to creat affordable premiums, co-pays and deductables. Along with these there is one main feture to his health care plan that has proven to be a major problem now-a-days. He vowls that those who do not qualify for Medicaid (MA) but still need financial assistance will receive an income-realted federal sudsidy to but into the public plan or purchase a privare health care plan. In my eyes however, the very biggest point is that Barrack Obama vows to make Health care for children MANDITORY! There are several other points on health care that Barrack vowls, but these are the core points.

John McCain -
John McCain Beleives that Americans shoule be free to choose their doctors, including specialists, He    is along with Barrack and beleive that the health coverage for children should be greater, that no child should be left without health care. Being a vertren himself he believes that the veterans health care is very limited and that they are being 'short stawed', and should be increase. A major issues for him is that people should be given full care no matter what care they need even if they are on a HMO.
McCain Beleves that the award for malpractice should be decresed, thus putting less and less perfectly good doctors out of business.

My Views:
I am a very liberal person, and when in comes to Health Care I would always vote Liberal. I personally follow Barrack Obama's views on health care very closely, but I am a huge fan of Socialized Medicine. For those of you who don't know the term Socialized Medicine is used to describe a system of publicly administered national health care. This system can range from programs in which the government runs hospitals and health organizations to programs in which there is national universal health care. The US has tried several times to introduce socialize medicine, but the public has been slow to accept it on the grounds that it would be very costly and that there would be a decrease in the quality of patient care. But in reality Socialized medicine would signifigantly help Americas health care crisis. There would no longer be people, or children who die from easily preventable disease because of the lack of health care insurace. A few of the many countries who have sucessfully instated Soclized medicine are New Zeland, canada, and Englad, including MANY others.

Thanks for reading, keep tuning in!

What can you do when it seems like everything has fallen in on you?
What can you do when it seems like everything has fallen in around you? I Just wanted to try out this blogger thing!
I haven't got the slightest idea. I've been trying to answer that question my self for the past 4 months... Sometimes it feels as if everything is just falling apart, and in reality, it probably is, and you can be like me and put your tail in between your legs and run the other way until everything you've been running from catches up with you or you can face it, like you face the world every single day, and just go on believing that things will go how they go. Ultimately,  no matter what you do or do not believe in, the outcome of life is not effected by what we do or do not do. I am a Roman Catholic and strongly believe that everything that goes on my life has a reason, that He has given me all of these ailments for some reason. I believe that their is a divine purpose for my pain. I believe that I was put here for the greater good, to work for the Lord by healing those who have ailments, those who are in need of medical attention. The way that the world, US, in particular is going, it would be a miracle if by the time I make it through undergrad's and Med school there will be very few doctors who truly believe in healing. I believe that He has provided me with these illnesses so I am not one of those doctors, so I am someone who truly understands what my patient is going through. It may sound like I am totally alright with everything that I go through, and while I am alright some of the time, it has been a rough road. I was one of those people who put my tail in between my legs and ran the other way, and it took me 4 months of running away from reality to get to where I am now, to be alright.
Don't be like me, don't run the other way, stick it up, face the world, and face your issues, just like you have been doing all you life.

Meg
